The April Farm Update

Apr 12, 2018

At last, that moment that many of you have been waiting for - the milk is back! This is always the most exciting time of year on the farm, with about half of our gorgeous nannies having now kidded. Whoopla! After a well-deserved three month break, the nannies are once again providing us with delicious fresh creamy goats' milk. Fatima, the matriarch, had triplets for the third time in a row, and the goat barn is once again positively frolicking with playful kids.

We also have a new billy on the farm, a beautiful Anglo-Nubian chap with a face full of character. He is as yet nameless, so if you’ve always been keen to name a billy goat this is your opportunity. All suggestions welcome!

Meanwhile up in the woods Sandra the sow is cosying down in her arc ready to farrow. While Sally our other sow and her litter continue to fatten up on the organic crimp barley and forage from their paddock.

If anyone would like to come and see the farm and meet the new goat kids, the best opportunity will be our Spring Open Day on Sunday 15th April. It’ll be a family-friendly event, running from 2 to 5pm with tea, cake and our own farm cider being served up. All members and friends are welcome to come, have a chat and a look around the farm. While we’re at it, another date for the diary is our joint Great Summer Open Day with Chagfood on the 16th June. Stay tuned for more details!

Toodaloo for now!

Sylvan and all at Chagfarm.
